What Are Articulated Trailer Tankers

Articulated vehicles have a pivot joint between the tractor and the trailer allowing the vehicle to make sharper turns. Articulated trailer tankers have a tank built onto the trailer that is used to carry liquids ranging from water to fuel or chemicals. These tanks can be various shapes including circular, elliptical or D-shaped.
The tanks are usually constructed from sheet metal or stainless steel and is mounted onto the chassis using flexible connections according to the manufacturer’s specifications and relevant safety standards. Tanks also have a manhole that is at approximately half a meter wide at the top of the tank and a ventilation system that releases any excess air or liquid if required. A ladder is typically mounted on the side or rear of the tank superstructure for access to the manhole. A motorized pump and hose system is used to fill and empty the tank.
