Tribal Furniture – An Overview
If you enjoy bold patterns and texture and like something a little bit different, tribal furniture may be for you. As the name might suggest, it takes its inspiration from designs and themes found in Africa, South America and parts of Asia. Although this type of furniture is often used outdoors, it’s also suitable for using indoors and most people find it a talking point when guests are visiting. Depictions of animals often feature prominently in the design of many pieces, as many primitive people thought that their depiction would create a connection between that animal and that piece of furniture. Tribal designs can be found on larger pieces such as beds, tables, dressers and sideboards, as well as on smaller accessories, such as bedside lights, mirrors and rugs. When used to furnish a house or a room, the effect can be striking and rustic looking.
