Leadership Burnout – Symptoms And Prevention

Leadership burnout, or the emotional trauma of leadership, is one of the major causes of organizational decay, poor employee relations, and poor performance. The symptoms are similar to those of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), but unlike PTSD, the symptoms do not appear overnight and persist for years.
Leadership burnout occurs when the leader has too much stress, and he/she doesn’t know how to handle that stress effectively. Many people think that their leaders simply need a good vacation. You must take time off periodically to deal with stress. Otherwise, you’re not dealing with your leader effectively. The symptoms of leadership burnout are quite similar to the symptoms of other disorders. You cannot predict what the symptoms will be in any given situation, and you need to be constantly vigilant and on guard to ensure you do not burn out.
