What Are Eco Friendly Candles?

Candles are relaxing, romantic and atmospheric and also likely to set your house on fire. However if you insist on using them you should know that most are made from paraffin wax (also called mineral wax). It is the cheapest and most common material for making candles and hence is the most often used. Paraffin is made from a petroleum by-product that contains seven major toxins (according to the EPA) and may contain other harmful substances as well.
There are alternatives to candles made from paraffin, however. Eco friendly candles include those made from soy wax which is soured from, naturally enough, soy beans. Beeswax and coconut wax are other environmentally friendly options and have the added benefit of being sustainable. They both burn with a clear, long-lasting flame and produce no harmful residues. Beeswax is also notable for producing an exceptionally bright flame.
